Writing for the web need not be a difficult thing. You do not have to be the best writer in the world to engage people in your blog. Indeed, award winning writers may not be the best writers for the web. Confused? Here are some tips to help you to get people to read your posts.
Keep it simple
I am sure you know about the acronym KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid. I don’t know about that last word, but the idea is to simplify your writing. Use simple words, use simple structures. There is no need to impress your audience with huge words. The point is that you get your message across effectively.
Spell it out
I know some people who are so into acronyms. I have to admit that I have that tendency every now and then – I just had to put a KISS above, right? Anyhow, assuming that your readers know what your acronyms stand for is a sure fire way of alienating them. If you have to use acronyms, make sure that you do explain what they stand for.
Vary words and style
After writing for the same blog for quite some time, you might find yourself wondering why it feels “old.†I suggest looking at the words and the sentence structures that you use. The chances are that you are sticking to the same things with each post. Try to expand your vocabulary and vary your style a bit. You’ll be surprised at how fresh your posts will seem.
