When it comes to tools and gadgets needed to keep a blogger happily typing away, one needs to look no further than the trusty all-in-one cellphone.
Sometimes, we think that we may need all these tools: the Flip Video camera for vlogging, or a decent digicam like the Sony DSC series cams. But little do we realize that one trusty cellphone would be enough for your blogging, and even vlogging needs.
I was praying about what gadgets to target next year, when I would note that my heart is heavy whenever I would try to set a budget for the Flip Video camera. Then I realized, that I actually didn’t need that, because the cellular phone I was targeting (my current phone needs to be replaced) was adequate!
I was just wanting a cellphone that can handle two SIM cards simultaneously open, and I keep being directed to the MyPhone T22. I had been considering buying a Chinese dual-sim phone, the type with a television built-in, but I realized that I may well have warranty issues later. Plus, I keep wondering whether the chemicals these companies use are earth-friendly.
Not that I belittle China or anything, it’s just that I have had several orders for academic papers that include information on China’s business practices. And in my country, there had been several recalls for their products, because of toxic chemicals in these.
I have also read of such cases in the U.S., where China-made toys were recalled. Thus, I wondered if the Chinese phones were safe too.
But back to my salivation. I was praying about getting a Sony DSC digicam AND a Flip Video cam later, but it seemed like every time I wrote it down on my targets, I would feel a certain internal check, an adamant “NO,†to what I wanted to do. Thus, I decided, NO it is.
Then it turns out, the Flip Video has this key spec I was looking for:
640 x 480 resolution
While the MyPhone T22 has these specs:
Network: GPRS/GSM 900/1800
Camera: 2.0 Megapixels CMOS
Display: 240 x 320 pixels, 2.8″, 262K colors TFT
Connectivity: Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP, USB
Memory: 2MB Built-in User Memory
Expansion: Micro SD/T-flash memory card slot
Device Control: Touch screen and Alphanumeric keypad
Messaging: SMS, EMS, MMS, E-mail
GPRS: Class 12, WAP 2.0 browser
Sound: 2 stereo speakers, 3D-surround effect
Multimedia: MP3/MP4 player/Video Recorder
Battery: 1000 mAh
Dimensions: 112 x 50 x 15 mm
Weight: 117gStandby time: 80 – 150 hrs.
Talk time: 150 – 240 mins.Available in White
Not bad, eh?
There are only two things I need in a cam, anyway: clear, crisp pictures, and decent video. :p
With the added bonus of being able to house two SIM cards and then the fact that it won’t add to the heaviness in my bag, I think, this may well be my favorite object of salivation this season!
Postscript:
After I researched the MyPhone, I found this review of it, and I was disappointed at the comments of the fact that the megapixels in the cam were just extrapolated whatevers (I got lost in the jargon :p ), and so I think a Sony Digicam would suffice for all my video needs. So much for the MyPhone. NOW I’ll need to look for a better, cheaper Dual Sim phone! (We have crazy cellphone networks in my country.)
