Taking photos of people, places and objects is an enriching hobby. You capture scenes and moments worth remembering. But if you’re into this activity, however, sometimes you may find it hard to store your images.
Fortunately, there are many ways to save photos today especially online. You can create albums on social networking sites or on sites exclusive to photo sharing. Or you can always start a photography blog to share your best pictures with the rest of the world.
WordPress is the most highly recommended blog platform. It’s not only easy to use but it also has lots of great features that will help you create an attractive and fully functional blog.
Choose a Theme
When choosing a theme, you can opt for the free ones or the custom themes which require a fee. For a start, though, you can use any of the beautiful free themes available that should be in line with the focus of your blog.
If you’re into nature photography, for example, you can pick a theme that features landscapes or flowers and birds.
Install Plugins
Don’t forget to install plugins which are very helpful in making your blog more interactive. Some of them also make it easy for you to share your blog posts on your favorite social media sites.
JetPack, for instance, has widgets, statistics and lets you automatically share posts across various social networks.
Akismet is a must-use plugin. This tool filters spam comments thereby protecting your blog moving forward.
WordPress SEO is also strongly recommended. This plugin lets you take control of titles, descriptions and keywords and block search engines that spider tags and archives.
Add Text
Apart from posting your photos, it is a good idea to add text such as a short description or story behind a particular image you’re sharing. This way, your readers will know the inspiration behind your photos and the message you’re trying to share through your pictures.
Another great tip is to link your blog post to your Flickr and other social media accounts. This way, your readers will get to see your other images which you may not be able to share on your blog.
Post Regularly
Make sure to publish fresh posts on a regular basis. When you are able to do this, you can be sure to gain loyal readers onward.
And do make it a point to publish only photos that you took. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a professional photographer because what’s more important is you’re able to show your own creativity.
