Paragraphs could very well be one of the most underrated things when it comes to writing for blogs. Have you ever visited a blog which had great content but you found yourself NOT reading much of it because of the paragraphs – or the lack of it?
I have a friend who recently got into blogging. It was actually fun to see how enthusiastic he was. He had so many ideas and just couldn’t stop coming up with content. And believe, they were good ideas. His writing was (and still not is) that good as it is the first time that he is actually writing of his own accord. Yet the ideas are flowing like a river after a storm. However, his posts seem to have something off about them.
You got it – he didn’t make use of paragraphs! Some of his posts were quite long and what the reader would see was a huge block of text. Now you know how tiring to read that can be. This is especially true if there are many different sub-ideas contained within the post.
Put yourself in the shoes of your reader. First, you want to have a visually stimulating experience. Short paragraphs with individual ideas are easier on the eyes. Second, you want to have breaks when there are shifts in the content of the post.
Breaking up your text into paragraphs is something basic that all bloggers should bear in mind. Again, it makes for better viewing and it makes for a more coherent read.
