I’ve touched on this topic before – the importance of form versus content. In this post, I would like to focus on a specific aspect of form – technology. Try to look back when you first began blogging.
You probably made use of one of the default templates of the blogging platform that you were using. You also probably tried to look into the different things that you could do with the given platform. Little by little, you would discover plug ins and other technology related toys that could make your blog more personalized and give it your own unique stamp.
I have absolutely no problem with this. I love technology, what can I say? All those widgets and other plug ins you can use for different blogging platforms make blogging all the more fun! However, have you ever found yourself getting too much into the technology aspect that somehow, somewhere along the way, you kind of forgot to pay attention to your content?
This is entirely possible – I have heard stories from bloggers detailing how this has happened. Of course, they realized their mistake and were able to correct it. Content should not be sacrificed for technology. All those things are fun and useful but without great content to offer your readers, they will soon lose interest in reading your blog. Without having any relevant and quality information to offer, what can technology do for your blog? Readers can find technology easily – it’s everywhere! What they are looking for is something that only you can give – and that is your own content.
