If you are just starting to blog, then you would probably know what I am talking about. First you create your blog – either with a free blogging platform or with your own domain. Then you build up your blog. In the beginning, you probably focus on your content – nothing is more precious to you than writing quality posts regularly. Then you hear about blog statistics. You hear about traffic, links, PageRank, and the like. Before you know, you are hooked.
You constantly find ways to increase your traffic. You constantly find ways to increase links to your blog. You keep on trying to understand Google’s PageRank and how you can make it work for you. Before you know it, you have strayed from your main objective in the beginning – writing quality content.
Now I am not saying that being concerned with all the statistics is a bad thing. In fact, a certain degree of concern is necessary! If you are really serious about your blog, you want it to be successful. You want it to have as wide a readership as possible.
Take note, however, of the words I used – a certain degree. This indicates that you do not have to OBSESS over STATISTICS at the expense of your CONTENT. You have to remember that these measures may change in the future as they have changed in the past. The one thing that you can be sure of is that if you deliver quality content to your readers, they will stay with you – PageRank0 or PageRank8.
