Most internet users, if not all, are easily attracted to photos and graphics in magazines, newspapers and books. In fact, it’s human nature for people to be visually oriented and this holds true even online.
Browsing through a website with just all text can be boring. Even though the fonts are of different sizes and text colors vary on a page, it can still look uninteresting. When this happens, you’re most likely to turn off a visitor looking at your site for the first time.
This is where the importance of images come in and which every blogger or publisher should not take for granted. Including photos in a blog post is a very effective way of attracting visitors and encouraging them to stay longer on your site.
Keep in mind that internet users have short attention span and are selective the reason why you need to add a quality image in a post as much as possible. Many bloggers consider it a sin if you fail to do this step.
How to Add Photos
As a blogger, you need to include one to two photos related to your article. Choose top quality images and position them in a way that can attract a visitor’s attention and entice him or her to read through your blog post.
Large and clear photos are sure to grab attention. You can choose to add it at the top before the body of your article or after the first or second paragraph. Using the full size would be most ideal but if the width goes beyond the area for the blog post, simply adjust it to fit it in.
Half width images are best used in the middle part of your content. Using them will keep your post interesting and encourage visitors to read your article up to the end.
If you have a list post, it is a good idea to add a photo to each point that you’re enumerating. An example would be a post about the top 3 image sources online. Photos you can include are the logos of each website.
Photo Sources to Use
Google Images is a popular source for photos you can use in your blog posts. Normally, each one shows the website url where it was used so make sure you also give credit to that site when you use any image.
