One of the reasons people frequent blogs is that they find blogs easy to read. If your blog reads like a white paper or an article in a professional journal, the chances are that you might have fewer readers than you could actually have. Have you checked your blog lately? How easy of a read is it? Ask yourself, is your blog easy to read?
Here are some tips on how to make it easier for your readers to read your blog.
Is it visually pleasing?
Take a look at your blog from another person’s point of view. If you feel that you are being too subjective, ask a friend to take a look at it for you. That way, you can get more objective feedback. When I say visually pleasing, take a look at the following specifications:
–color scheme: do the colors clash? Is the overall scheme coherent or does it look like an abstract painting?
–length of text: good content is always of primary consideration but you should present it in an appealing way. Chop up long blocks of text and throw in some pictures in there as well.
–overall layout and look: this includes the arrangement of links, ads, columns – basically everything that can be seen in your blog. You should arrange them in such a way that when a reader loads up the page, he wouldn’t be cringing because of the aesthetics – or the lack of it.
